5 days ago a 16 year old Noongar-Yamaji boy passed away by suicide in Casuarina prison.

After being found dead in his cell it was said that the security guard who was on watch that night had fallen asleep during his duties.

This is the gathering for him in Boorloo (Perth) and my sympathy goes out to the Dodd family.

Most Aboriginal people I know have been surrounded by suicides throughout our who lives with entire familes from a father (my cousin partner), daughter (my niece) and mother (my cousin) committing suicide all one year apart in my own family, along with many more people I have known.

Suicide shouldn't be the only option people think they have and indigenous youth shouldn't be locked up in prisons.
