With everyone sharing their reflections one year on from the referendum Defeat (Victory) I wanted to share my perspective of the event as I traveled talked and listened.

It seemed that there was much of the older generation that had seemed hopeful that there was going to be something that changed while much of the younger generation seemed disillusioned about how this seemed like a pointless change, there were those in other areas that had no idea what the vote was even about and those that misinformed by state politics going on around Native Heritage ACT.

There seemed like there were those who were determined to assert their individual sovereignty and make the vote about themselves and those who foolishly believed the system had our best interests at heart.

The only thing I saw was an attempt by a group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders taking their stab at something that will never be done again with outcomes we will never know but at least they tried something and after that all I think we do next is again consolidate ourselves to make another move in 40 years time when I believe that indigenous sovereignty will be even more eroded, perhaps maybe.

Just my thoughts and photos of people I met along the way with some of whom helped to influence my thoughts.
