Invasion Day, Naarm-Melbourne, 26th of January 2023.
A dawn service hosted this morning by the community at Kings Domain Resting place a site where the repatriated remains of Indigenous people from all around Victoria.
As the sun was rising various members of the community stood in front of the crowd of people and read out a list of Massacre sites throughout the state. It's never easy to hear how, where and how many of your countrymen have been killed but the story is the same all over this country.
In 1888 at the 100th anniversary of "The First Fleet" it is said that Aboriginal people had gathered to protest this event but it went unnoticed because at the time we were best seen and never heard. Now we carry a different set of tools and weapons which we use to help tell our stories our way through our lens and you can see some of those people doing that in the last photo with @bc_drumwarrior, @balaluke and myself pictured together working to photo document our world our way.
