Familiarity of face, whose family you belong to and where you come from are a few things I consider pretty important as part of my cultural connection.
Yesterday's conversation with a woman from Cherbourg reminded me of this as we talked and she opened with who her family were, although I didn't know them because I come from the opposite side of the country I reciprocated in turn and said who my family were and where I belonged.
Being ignored in the back corner with my camera is what I've become used to at events but occasionally you get those other blackfellas that just love to yarn and tell stories, of course I am being paid to be at events but don't confuse me as simply being an asset of some professional curiosity.
Photos are somewhat related to words but relation an experience ahead of this event.
